BHS students toured Lenoir Rhyne University and Appalachian State University. The morning drizzle in Hickory did not dim their experience. Our students are excited to be ready for college.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Blacksburg Fire crews had a great time of interaction with students while attending a career fair at the Blacksburg High School on Wednesday. Many of our personnel who started out as volunteers have now entered full time employment with fire departments in Cherokee, Gaston and Mecklenburg counties. We’d like to thank the BHS staff for including us in this opportunity to reach more young folks in this area.
We appreciate all veterans, with a special thanks to those who are BHS alumni, including our two speakers yesterday, Adam Steele and Shad McDaniel. One again we were honored with the presence of Mr. M. D. Floyd, a World War II, Korea, and Vietnam veteran. Thank you to all who served!
Huge shoutout to Levi Strain, Shelby Palowski, and Tyler Crater for completing the Spartanburg Science Center's Aviation Program! These three have soared to new heights with their dedication and passion for aviation.

BHS extends our sincerest condolences to Coach Bob Blanton’s family. He was a legendary coach, teacher, and athletic director at BHS for 20 years. We are grateful for his influence and the legacy he leaves behind of caring, commitment, and dedication to all things black and gold.
